How involved can I be in my patient’s care while they are with you?

While your patient is in our care, we welcome you to be as involved as you would like to be. From observing in the operating room during their procedure to phone calls, we encourage a group approach to our patient’s care to help ensure the best outcome possible.

What if my patient doesn’t live in The San Francisco Bay Area?

We offer a consultation service via telephone for patients who reside outside of the Bay Area.  We are happy to coordinate a conference call between yourself, your patient, and Dr. Stone to discuss potential treatment options with The Stone Clinic.  In order to perform a phone consultation, we request that patients submit information about their specific case.

Instructions on what should be submitted can be found here.  We encourage you to assist your patient in gathering the requested materials.

How can I help my patient during their recovery after they return home?

The patients will need regimented physical therapy once they return home as well as follow-ups with an orthopaedic specialist to monitor their recovery and address any questions or issues should they arise. All patients will need to have their sutures removed two weeks postoperatively. Ensuring that your patient follows these requirements would be of great help.

Where can I find information about your rehabilitation protocols?

All of our surgical rehabilitation protocols are published in the Physical Therapy section of our website, located here.

How often will they need to come in and see you after their procedure?

Patients are seen by Dr. Stone within 1-2 days after surgery.  Regularly scheduled post-operative appointments occur at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months after surgery.  We encourage all patients to let us know immediately if they have any concerns and we will continue to check in with the patient on an annual basis following their procedure.
