Melissa comes to The Stone Clinic with experience from a Sports and Orthopedic Clinic in the East Bay. She received her Doctorate in physical therapy from Samuel Merritt College in Oakland and her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Before pursuing her doctoral degree, Melissa spent 2-1/2 years serving in the Peace Corps in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa. This experience taught her that the most effective way to make a difference in the world is through individual relationships and she brings this philosophy to physical therapy. Melissa is full-body certified in Active Release Techniques® (ART), and she is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Melissa has had research published in the APTA Orthopedic Physical Therapy Journal and she has contributed to Backpacker's Magazine. In her free time, Melissa loves to run and has run a number of marathons and ultramarathons. She enjoys helping others develop training programs to achieve their running goals. In addition, Melissa loves to travel and spend time outdoors doing anything from cycling and backpacking to hiking.
