Appointments

-

An appointment at The Stone Clinic is a unique experience. Our staff of professionals is trained and experienced in providing world class care to competitive athletes and weekend warriors alike. Our goal is to return you to your activities fitter, faster, and stronger than before, whether you aspire to climb Mt. Everest, or simply your front stairs.

The Stone Clinic staff will make every effort to accommodate your schedule requests. Typically, Mondays and Thursdays are reserved for seeing patients in clinic, while Tuesdays and Wednesdays are surgical days as needed. Although we recognize that not everyone’s schedule fits these parameters, and injuries tend to occur at inevitably inconvenient times, so we try to be flexible in making time available to see patients.

Our goal is to provide all the necessary diagnostic, imaging, treatment, and therapy plans for you during your visit, so the path to healing begins as soon as possible. In order to accomplish this, we ask that you allow sufficient time to spend with us during your initial visit. Also, we request that you arrive 15 minutes before your initial appointment to ensure your paperwork is completed. In order to streamline your Stone Clinic experience, please visit Patient Information Forms to complete the paperwork at your leisure prior to arriving at the clinic.

To best evaluate your situation, it helps to have as much information as possible. If you have had prior doctor visits, surgeries, or imaging, please bring with you office reports, surgical reports and pictures, and all Xray or MRI films that you can obtain, including the Xray and MRI reports. The reports are important because they provide specific information from trained surgeons or radiologists, that sometimes are difficult to evaluate with pictures alone.

To schedule an appointment or for answers to questions pertaining to your visit, please contact our scheduling desk at (415) 563-3110, or email reception@stoneclinic.com. We look forward to seeing you!

For our Out-of-Town/International patients we offer an "Accelerated Relief and Return to Normal Activities Program" which includes an all-in-one, one-week visit for physician exam and consultation, MRI plus X-ray, accurate diagnosis, plus physical therapy or surgery if needed. We can facilitate your travel plans by scheduling your hotel and arranging taxi service once in town.

What to Wear/Bring

  • Please wear or bring shorts.
  • Please wear or bring athletic shoes.
  • Please bring orthotics if used.
  • Female patients requiring shoulder exam should wear a sports bra.

Outside Consultation Request

For patients who are unable to visit the clinic due to geographic or transportation limitations, we offer phone consultations to help the patient with information and to guide their care. Please note that nothing replaces a direct, hands-on clinical evaluation, but we provide this service to help guide a patient’s treatment plan. In order for Dr. Stone to reasonably assess your situation, we would like to see the information included on the Outside Consultation Form. The more information you can provide, the more accurate your consultation will be. Feel free to contact Catherine at (415) 563-3110, or email catherine@stoneclinic.com in order to schedule an outside consultation.

Please note, if your X-rays and MRI are not obtained at The Stone Clinic, it is important that your films include the following views:

Ankle: Anterior-Posterior (AP), Lateral, Medial Oblique
Elbow: AP, Lateral
Hip: AP Pelvis, Frog Leg
Leg: AP, Lateral
Knee: AP, Lateral, PA flexion view, and Skyline view
**To clarify the necessary MRI views, please view Knee Imaging Views. It may help to bring a print out of this sheet to your MRI imaging service prior to obtaining an MRI.
Shoulder: Internal, external, and axillary views

Additional Information

Payment is required at the time of service. However, most insurance companies do cover Stone Clinic services as an out-of-network provider. We will do everything possible to assist you in obtaining reimbursement from your insurance company. We provide you with a "superbill" receipt when you leave The Stone Clinic, which can be sent, as is, to your insurance company for reimbursement to you. If you bring your insurance information with you, you can mail it right from The Clinic. You may also email billing@stoneclinic.com or call (415) 563-3110 for billing questions and for appointments.

The Stone Clinic is located in the sunny Marina district of San Francisco. Please view Directions to help guide your arrival. Currently there is free parking available on the beach side of Marina Boulevard.

Since The Stone Clinic provides a unique opportunity that may be different from your previous experiences at “the doctor”, we’ve included a generalized description of what your visit may entail, A Day in the Life of a Patient at The Stone Clinic.
